Our 6 project programmes are in full swing with the project to date delivering;

  • The tree nursery sessions are complete this month; Over 250 children from Bearnes Primary School and Stover Prep school have helped to grow trees from seed. A third community tree nursery was created in Heathfield with the community. This winter we are planning some community tree planting events.
  • Year 3 of the British Dragonfly Society project started in May and runs until September with 10 young adults aged16- 25. Next year the species monitoring will continue and open up the group.
  • Kingscare successfully ran a ‘Beat the Blues’ course over the winter and are running a ‘Hope Course’ over summer, also 2 monthly wellbeing walks and dementia group walks.
  • Y-project had a great all-day nature based session in February and continue through this years school holidays. We are delighted they have secured funding to carry on next year.
  • Two Dartmoor’s Daughter heritage walks took place- one in March for the general public and one in Spring for Students from the ESOL (English as a second language) course in Exeter.
  • The Community Shed continues every Thursday and we have welcomed 3 new volunteers this year making it a full team of 8!
  • Heathfield community event brought Heathfield residents on foot to Stover for a fun Spring event.
  • Newton Abbot Museum are hosting an exhibition from July 31st – Aug 30th showcasing the heritage research their volunteers did about Stover Park for the new interpretation, alongside artefacts for each topic.
