Our events have limited places which must be booked in advance.
It is essential that children booked onto a Children’s Activity have a responsible adult present throughout, with a maximum of four per adult.

There is a car parking charge of £2.20 for two hours and £4.40 for all day (payable via cash, card or RingGo). Charges apply from dawn until dusk.

Saturday 12 September: 10.30am – 1pm – Stover Park Guided Walk – Heritage Open Day Event
Stover Country Park is hosting a walk around the Grade II Listed Park and Garden, created in the 1700s, including areas not usually open to the public.
Trace the route used by the horse drawn carriages as they made their way under the Gatehouse arch, along the old carriage drive past Stover Lake, and up to Stover House. Stover School have kindly given permission to access their grounds to externally view James Templer’s stables, the only one of its design in the Country, the Duke of Somerset’s clock tower stable block, the Ionic Temple and Stover House.

Saturday 26 September: 1pm – 3.30pm – Autumn Foraging Walk and Fire Cider Workshop
Join Medical Herbalist, Yasmin Kerr, for an afternoon of foraging and hands-on medicine making. Saturday 3rd October: Naturemake Workshop – 11am – 1pm
Join Naturemake for a lovely imaginative autumnal woodland fairy or elf house workshop. Forage from our beautiful collection of natural treasures from near and far to create your magical miniature lands complete with little owls or foxes .

Sunday 11th October: Guided Walk – Fungus Foray – 10:30am – 12:30pm
Join a local expert and discover the fascinating world of the toadstool and its relations.

Friday 30th October: Family Halloween Trail – Time slots from 6.00pm – 7:45pm
Join us on a self-led spooky trail around the park after dark. Followed by a hot chocolate around the campfire.
All groups must have a torch to take part in the trail. The trail will take approximately 1 hour to complete and will follow the path round the lake.

Tuesday 8th December: Christmas Carols at Stover – 7pm – 8.30pm
Bring a candle or torch, join in the festivities and give your vocal cords an airing. Join the Newton Abbot Salvation Army Band and sing carols around the bonfire. A hot mulled drink and mince pies are provided.

Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th December: Children’s Event: Christmas Gnome Trail – Various time slots available on both days
Find all of Santa’s Gnomes in the park on this self-led trail.

Volunteers’ days
Why not join our growing army of conservation volunteers on the last Sunday of every month between September and April. Tasks are varied and all tools are provided. No special skills are needed – just bring along lunch and old clothes. See our volunteering page for more details.
Sunday 27 September – Rhododendron Clearance
Help remove invasive Rhododendron to benefit the native woodland flora.
Sunday 25 October – Meyer Rockery Garden at Stover School
Help with maintenance work in and around the Meyer Rockery Garden within Stover Historic Park.
Sunday 29 November – Grassland
We will be cutting and raking last year’s herbage in preparation for the Spring. This will benefit the flowering plants and butterfly species such as the pearl-bordered fritillary.
