Our events have limited places which must be booked in advance.
It is essential that children booked onto a Children’s Activity have a responsible adult present throughout, with a maximum of 4 per adult.

Follow the relevant link to book via Eventbrite. Please note that Eventbrite places a small non-refundable booking charge on top of our price. We are not able to offer refunds on our events unless we cancel, so please be sure that you would like to attend before booking.

There is a car parking charge of £2 for 2 hours and £4 for all day (payable via cash/card/RingGo). Charges apply from dawn until dusk.

Friday 27th September : 9am- Haytor to Yarner Woods Join Dartmoor’s Daughter on a walk from Haytor, through the granite quarry, along the old tramway and through Yarner woods. Lunch provided at Stover Country Park after the walk ends. Transport will be provided from Stover to Haytor and return as part of the walk. Check the link for the tiered pricing costs. |
Sunday 29th September : 10am – 4pm Volunteers Day – Rhododendron Clearance Help remove invasive rhododendron to benefit the native woodland flora. |
Sunday 13th October: 10am – 12pm Guided Walk – Fungus Foray Join a local expert and discover the fascinating world of the toadstool and its relations. £3 per person |
Tuesday 29th October: 10:30am – 12.30pm Children’s Activity – Toddler Forest Fun Join us for some fun in the forest. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy around the campfire at the end of the session. £3.50 per toddler For ages 2 – 5 yrs. Please book in advance – limited places. |
Sunday 27th October: 10am – 4pm Volunteers Day – Marshland Help remove alder and willow scrub from the marsh to benefit Stover’s summer dragonfly species and overwintering snipe. Wear wellies! |
Sunday 24th November: 10am – 4pm Volunteers Day – Grassland We will be cutting and raking last year’s herbage in preparation for the Spring. This will benefit the flowering plants and butterfly species such as the pearl-bordered fritillary. |
Saturday 16th November Restoring Stover Park Celebration Day Join us to explore our refurbished Stover Centre, all new Community Workshop, our restored Gatehouse, and learn about the de-silting project at the beautiful Stover Country Park. Explore the park, enjoy our new areas, and participate in a self guided trail. This in-person event is perfect for new and regular visitors who would like to see our newly restored, refurbished and built areas made possible by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. Bring a car full of people and book onto a 2 hour time slot, each ticket includes your parking and entry into the event for everyone in the car. We encourage people to walk or cycle where possible. Tuesday 10th December: 7 – 8.30pm Christmas Carols at Stover Bring a candle, join in the festivities and give your vocal cords an airing. Join the Newton Abbot Salvation Army Band and sing carols around the bonfire in the picnic area. A hot mulled drink and mince pies are provided. Volunteers’ DaysWhy not join our growing army of conservation volunteers on the last Sunday of every month between September and April. Tasks are varied and all tools are provided. No special skills are needed – just bring along lunch and old clothes. See our volunteering page for more details. |
