Priority Services Register (PSR): free support for families and early years staff
Early years providers are encouraged to share information about the Priority Services Register (PSR) with families and staff who may benefit from additional support during utility supply interruptions.
The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free UK-wide service that helps eligible households receive extra support from electricity, gas and water suppliers. The service is designed to ensure that those who may be more vulnerable receive timely communications and assistance during planned or unexpected interruptions to essential services.
Parents and carers with children under the age of five are eligible to register, as are individuals who rely on medical equipment, live with a disability, chronic illness or mental health condition, or have other circumstances that mean they may need additional support.
Eligibility is not restricted to these groups. Households may qualify if anyone living at the address is considered vulnerable, even on a temporary basis. Further information about eligibility criteria can be found on the PSR website.
By registering, households can benefit from services such as:
- Priority updates during electricity, gas or water supply interruptions
- Communication tailored to individual needs
- Access to additional support from utility providers when required
Early years providers are asked to help raise awareness of the register among families and members of the early years workforce who may be eligible. Registration is quick, free and can be completed directly by individuals.

Please consider sharing this information with your staff team and families through newsletters, noticeboards and other communication channels.
