Funding Friday

Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Grants

Schools can now apply for a Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Grant of £1,000 to help fund a breakfast club for pupils between reception age and year 13.

The aim is to provide breakfast for children that need it most and so the priority is to support schools that either:

  • have 35% and above of children eligible for pupil premium funding or eligible for free school meals; or
  • are based in an area which is classified as falling in the 10% of most deprived areas (30% for secondary schools) according to the Index of Multiple Deprivation.

Application deadline: Apply at any time.

Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation

Each year, the Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation gives more than £4.5 million in grants to capital projects that support communities and provide facilities for those in need. Charities that are seeking funding for a capital project such as new build, major refurbishment or transport, can apply to the Foundation for a contribution towards the costs.

There are three levels of grants:

  • Large – £25,000 and above
  • Medium – up to £20,000
  • Small – £5,000 and under

Applications are accepted from registered charities, CIOs, specialist schools, scout and guide groups and housing associations. Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies registered with the FCA can also apply.

And you can apply at any time.

Kelly Family Charitable Trust

The Kelly Family Charitable Trust provides grants for small charities that work with families that have one or more family members facing difficult issues. The Trust priorities activities that support families to work as a cohesive unit.

The Trust is interested in supporting three main areas of activity:

  • interventions that support families and help them in ways that prevent the fracture of the family unit, eg practical family support, relationship counselling, mediation
  • families where sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, alcohol abuse and drug abuse threaten the integrity of the family unit
  • prisoners and their families, during and after the period of imprisonment

The grants are for registered charities working at a local or regional level. The funding can be for core costs or projects and can be used to cover revenue or capital costs. Most grants are for less than £5,000.

There are two deadlines a year: 1 March and 1 September.
