Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest

Voluntary and community organisations from across the South of England can apply for a grant from the Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest.

Grants can be used to support the following:

  • Youth work and activities
  • Pre-schools and extracurricular school activities
  • Elderly and people with disabilities
  • Health and social care
  • Local arts and culture
  • Conservation and the environment

Applicants will need to show that there is a real need for their project and that it will really improve the lives of local residents.

Grants range from £400 to £4,000 – most grants are below £1,500.

The Eric Charles Charitable Trust

The Eric Charles Charitable Trust is a family grant-making Trust that rarely features in grant directories.

The Trust supports a wide range of charitable causes in the fields of:

  • Arts
  • Community
  • Culture
  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Overseas aid

Grants range from £100 to £25,000, with an average award of £4,066.

The Nora Smith Charitable Settlement

Small grants for UK registered charities working in the UK and overseas for a wide range of charitable causes, including animal welfare, education, the environment, medical research, overseas aid and social welfare.

Manchester-based, the Nora Smith Charitable Settlement supports a broad range of charitable activities with one year or multi-year grants.

Grants tend to range from £250 to £8,000, with most awards being towards the lower end of this range. The Charity meets three times each year, in March, July and November, to review requests for grant support.
