Training from Cornwall and Beyond Early Years Stronger Practice Hub:
Developing A High-Quality Child-Centred Curriculum
In this three-part series you will explore what makes an early years curriculum unique to all other stages of education, using the foundations of a child-centred approach that will enable teams to build a curriculum that is right for each individual setting. Based on a tried and tested model, over three sessions you will consider the intent, implementation and impact of a child-centred curriculum for your setting. It is an approach that truly starts with the child and looks to support all educators embrace what is unique about an early years curriculum. Each session will provide a practical hands-on activity that can be adapted to work with colleagues in preparation for the next session.
All sessions will be online, but will provide opportunities for supportive, professional dialogue.

- Starting with Impact – 10th November (4-5pm)
- Exploring Implementation – 9th February (4-5pm)
- Setting our Intent – 11th May (4-5pm)
Verity Campbell-Barr is a Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Plymouth and has undertaken multiple European projects on child-centred approaches to early childhood education and care, alongside work into what are the features of a high-quality early years curriculum.
