Early years qualifications list (EYQL)

The early years qualification list (EYQL) is now available as an online web view format on the following link:

The EYQL web view replaces the previous spreadsheet-based version and provides a more accessible way for users to search, view and understand qualification information online.

The EYQL shows all the qualifications that are approved by the Department for Education (DfE) as full and relevant for working as a qualified member of staff in an early years setting in England.

About the EYQL web view:

  • The EYQL helps users determine whether a qualification is recognised by the Department for Education as ‘full and relevant’ for the purposes of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) staff:child ratios in England.
  • Users can search for qualifications and view qualification details, additional requirements and supporting notes directly online.
  • The EYQL web view can also be used to find full and relevant qualifications to study.
  • The format removes the need to download and navigate a large spreadsheet.
  • For users who prefer to work offline, the full EYQL remains available to download as a CSV file.
