Childhood immunisations – briefing sessions for early years practitioners
Education and childcare providers have a vital role to play in supporting the routine immunisation programme through sharing of information with parents/carers.
The Improving Immunisation Uptake Team (IIHUT) are providing training on behalf of NHS England. The IIHUT work with GP practices to improve vaccination uptake in children under 5 years old.
The IIHUT will provide a free one hour virtual training session for early years staff and provide information to raise awareness of the importance of routine childhood immunisations in your setting. Free training packs, educational material and links to sources of credible information will be shared.
Information staff will gain:
- An understanding of who is eligible for vaccination on the NHS routine UK immunisation schedule
- An awareness of potential barriers to vaccination
- Benefits and risks of vaccination
- Where to signpost people for further information and vaccination
