Children from across Devon aged 5 to 16, who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals, are invited to take up an action-packed Summer holiday this year, as part of our government-funded Holiday Activities and Food programme.

Small grants scheme
The Devon County Council Small Grants Scheme for disabled children is now open for a second round of applications for 2022-23. We would particularly welcome applications for activities, groups or sessions over the Summer Holiday period. The closing date for applications is 11th July 2022.

Government updates
Updates include: ‘Cost of living support for families’; ‘Early years qualifications achieved in England’; ‘Reviews of education, health and care (EHC) plans: proposed timescales’ and ‘English and maths requirements in apprenticeship standards at level 2 and above’.

Could screen time support child development?

Heat health warning
The Met Office have advised there is a high chance of heat health warnings for Friday 17th June 2022. It’s important that schools and early years settings have considered the effects of heat on the health of children. We strongly advise schools and other settings to sign up to the Met Office alerts to provide prior warning to enable planning to manage risk.
