Safeguarding training for early years educators

Following the September 2026 EYFS safeguarding updates and the launch of the Department for Education’s (DfE) new Safeguarding Children and Babies in Early Years Settings eLearning course, Devon Early Years and Childcare Service has reviewed its safeguarding training offer to ensure it meets the requirements of EYFS Annex C.

Awareness level safeguarding training- for all early years educators:

Early Years Educators will be able to complete either the new DfE Safeguarding Children and Babies in Early Years Settings eLearning course or the core eLearning from the Shop:

• DfE Safeguarding Children and Babies in Early Years Settings (eLearning)
• Devon County County Council’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Core (all early years and childcare practitioners)

Fully funded.

Safeguarding training for those with safeguarding responsibilities:

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), including childminders, will need to complete Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Child Protection (Group 3 Core) training to meet the requirements of EYFS Annex C. This is a virtual session and you will also need to complete pre-course learning (including the awareness level training, LADO and prevent training)

Fully funded (two fully funded places per early years setting)

Please note – the multi-agency training replaces the enhanced training, which is no longer running.
