Measles is spreading
Please can you bring to the attention of your parents / carers that measles is spreading and for parents/carers to make sure their child(ren) have received both doses of the Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine.
The highly contagious disease is spreading across the UK and Europe. The UK measles vaccine program has prevented 4,500 measles deaths. Two doses of the MMR vaccine given during childhood can offer lifelong protection.
What parents and carers can do to protect their child:
They can check their child’s health record (Red Book) to see if they have had both doses. If not, they can contact their doctors (GP surgery) and ask for a vaccination appointment for their child.
Parents / carers can find out more by reading the message in the link below and if they need to know more about any vaccines to speak to their GP surgery.
