Take up of places by 2, 3 and 4 year olds in Devon is consistently high

The Department for Education (DfE) have published updated statistics on children registered for funded early education and childcare entitlements in England.

The headline take up rates comparing Devon with the South West and England averages are shown in the charts below, both for targeted two year olds and for three and four year olds between 2022 and 2024.

(The two charts above outline the take up of funded childcare for 2 years olds and 3 & 4 year olds).

Devon figures are consistently higher than both the South West and England averages, particularly with respect to two year old take up. This is likely due to Devon County Council taking a very pro-active role in encouraging parents and carers of eligible two year olds to take up their funded entitlement and of course to all the providers across Devon who work to achieve such positive results – thank you!
