Wild About Devon 2024

Communities can apply for up to £500 to fund initiatives that support local wildlife and biodiversity. The Wild About Devon grant scheme recognises the vital role that community action can play in creating long-term benefits for wildlife.

A range of community wildlife projects and activities can be funded. This includes restoring neglected habitats such as grassland or woodland, creating new wildlife areas such as ponds and wildflower meadows or improving the management of parks and green spaces in a way that benefits wildlife.

The maximum grant is £500, but the aim is to support more communities with smaller amounts of around £100 or less. Funds can be used for advice, equipment and other resources.

Application deadline: 1 October 2024

CLA Charitable Trust

Grants up to £5,000 are available from the CLA Charitable Trust to support the most disadvantaged, and especially disadvantaged young people, to access the benefits of the countryside.

The aims are to:

  • Advance people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing through access, recreational and educational opportunities within and about the countryside
  • Promote and encourage education in sustainable farming, food production and rural land management

Funding can be used for farm visits, horticultural therapy and other gardening projects, forest school activities, conservation work and other initiatives to support the mental and physical wellbeing of disadvantaged people through access to the countryside.

Applications are accepted from registered charities, Community Interest Companies and other not-for-profit organisations that have clear social benefit. Schools exclusively for children with additional needs can also apply.

Applications may be submitted at any time.

Devon Community Foundation: Small Grants

Small local organisations that are tackling inequality and strengthening communities in Devon can apply for a small grant from Devon Community Foundation. The aim is to provide support and services for the lowest income and/or marginalised groups in Devon and to bring people together so that they feel safe, included and connected.

The funding is for new, and/or small-scale work projects that help to strengthen Devon’s communities by providing spaces, opportunities and/or resources to people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them.

Applications are accepted from not-for-profit organisations including registered charities, CICs and unincorporated organisations. Schools and public bodies can also apply for funding towards projects that benefit the wider community and do not duplicate statutory provision.

You can apply for up to £5,000 towards your project. This can be spent on staff costs and overheads, project costs and expenses. Up to £1,500 of your grant can also be spent on capital costs such as building improvements.

Applications may be submitted at any time and are considered regularly, subject to availability of funds.
