Have your say on the future of six adult day services across Devon

There’s still a few weeks for people to have their say on six of Devon County Council’s ten in-person adult learning disability day services.

Devon County Council (DCC) currently operate ten in-house day care services at eight different sites across Devon. Since 2015, the number of eligible people accessing DCC’s in-house learning disability day services has reduced from 116 to 13 people today.

DCC’s learning disability day services at Lyric in Okehampton, Newholme in Honiton, Silverhill in Barnstaple, and Tumbly Hill in Kingsbridge, as well as its older people day services at Tumbly Hill, are currently not attended by anyone.

The learning disability day service at Rosalind House in Tiverton is currently required by one person.

These in-house day opportunities are only available to someone who has had a Care Act assessment where the support plan identifies they have an eligible care need which it is appropriate to meet through the provision of a day service. Day Services are only one of many services available to people through the Care Act eligibility.

The consultation page includes background information and an easy read version.

DCC are asking people for their views on whether they should continue operating these six day care services. The consultation can be found on Devon’s Have Your Say webpages.

No matter which option is decided upon for the services being consulted upon, DCC will continue to meet a person’s eligible needs, following a Care Act assessment and support plan.

The consultation is open until Tuesday 16 January 2024.

A new online consultation meeting has been added to enable more people to have their say:

  • Monday 15 January 2024, 1.00pm to 2.30pm, Online consultation meeting

Book a place at the online consultation meeting on our Eventbrite listing.
