Road Maintenance Shillingford Lane

1. What was the criteria for resurfacing Shillingford Lane, Kennford?

Devon County Council (DCC) had been receiving regular pothole reports along this lane for a substantial period of time. As such it was identified as a site requiring treatment.

An assessment of the road was carried out to understand appropriate repair solutions.

Following that assessment, it was identified that the road had deteriorated so significantly, resurfacing was the most cost effective long term option, considering whole life costing and asset management principles.

The recommendation was to resurface approximately 80% of its length, however upon review of budgets and other priorities, a decision was reached to treat the worst part – approximately 700m, which equates to 35% of its length.

2. Was this resurfacing funded by a company?

No, it was funded by DCC
