Return Home Interviews

Please provide the following three totals covering the period between 1 January 2019 and 19 July 2022, disaggregated by year (for example, ‘2019’, ‘2020’, 2021 etc):

The number of recorded statutory Return Home Interviews (RHI) you have conducted with children (interviewees aged 17 and under)

2019 – 647

2020 – 697

2021 – 654

2022 up to 19/07/22 – 395

We should clarify that we interpreted the word ‘Conducted’  to mean where the RHI was accepted by child/young person. Therefore answers do not include RHI where child/young person refused.

The number of recorded RHIs aged 17 or under with a recorded risk of Child Exploitation (CE)

2019 – 198

2020 – 173

2021 – 196

2022 up to 19/07/22 – 130

The number of recorded RHIs aged 17 or under with a recorded risk of CE who have multiple ‘missing’ episodes

2019 – 59

2020 – 48

2021 – 84

2022 up to 19/07/22 – 40

We should clarify that we have taken the wording of this question to mean where the RHI is for multiple missing episodes that have been recorded on the RHI form only
