Parking Enforcers

1. How many parking enforcers are employed by Devon County Council (DCC)?

DCC currently employ 30 full time equivalent civil parking enforcement officers. However, the design establishment is 45 full time equivalents, although this naturally varies due to vacancies that arise when staff leave.

2. How many are on duty in Dartmouth on average?

Typically a single officer would be deployed to Dartmouth at any one time. In the past 24 months, officers have spent 1012 hours carrying out enforcement duties in Dartmouth.

3. What was the total parking charge notice income from Dartmouth streets?

Please refer to this Payments received document. It provides information from 1/10/2020 – 31/10/2022.

4. How much of this money was spent serving the Dartmouth community?

DCC do not hold a breakdown of how monies are spent in any community. However, the most significant draw upon the on street parking account is “Transport Coordination Services: Bus, rail and community transport support”, with £2.411m contributed in 2020/21. This accounts for approximately 25% of the bus subsidy revenue budget which also includes DCC core budget, bus service operators grant and other government grants.  This bus subsidy revenue budget is predominately spent on supported bus services including the 3 services to Kingsbridge/Plymouth, the 90 service serving Dartmouth Town and the 92 service to Totnes.

You can review our published annual report to see how parking income is spent. This can be found on this Devon County Council webpage.
