Newton Creek

1. Details of complaints and correspondence received from local residents regarding water quality and sewage issues from 2015 – 2016.

Devon County Council holds no information regarding complaints or correspondence relating to water quality and sewage issues in Newton Creek, as these issues are not its responsibility. In the interests of providing advice and assistance, we advise contacting the Environment Agency or South West Water.

2. Any applications for permits, licences or consent to work on the site from 2015 – 2016.

Similarly, Devon County Council holds no information concerning applications for permits, licences or consent to work on the site, as it is not the body responsible for issuing permits and licences relevant to Newton Creek or the land immediately adjoining it, other than where, in our role as Lead Local Flood Authority, we receive applications for works to an Ordinary Watercourse.  No such applications have been received nor consents issued in this location.

3. Any applications for planning permission received in relation to works conducted on the River Yealm, specifically Newton Creek, from 2015 – 2016.

This authority is only responsible for dealing with planning applications relating to ‘county matters’ (minerals and waste) or its own developments; all other planning applications would be handled by South Hams District Council.  Devon County Council has not received any planning applications relating to land adjoining Newton Creek or the nearby part of the River Yealm during or since 2015/16. Any development within the tidal parts of Newton Creek or the River Yealm would fall outside the scope of control by the local planning authorities, and would instead be the responsibility of the Marine Management Organisation.
