The Council sends in the region of 150,000 emails each month.
How many SMS messages does your organisation send monthly?
The Council sends an average of 59,000 SMS messages per month from its 4,500 mobile devices.
How many letters does your organisation send monthly?
Devon County Council does not hold central statistics for the number of letters sent monthly. We are unable to supply this data under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 – ‘Cost of Compliance’ as we have estimated that, due to its multiple locations, to locate, extract and retrieve this information would take well over 18 hours to process.
To clarify, the above questions relate to all messaging sent using your in-premises systems (e.g. email servers, letters posted from the premises etc.), via Gov Notify or any other 3rd party supplier (e.g. 3rd party SMS messaging service). Please note that if your printing is done out of premises (e.g. by another council) but the mailing is done in-house, please consider this as an internal process. In case merging the statistics from all providers is not feasible, please make a note of this in your reply.

The Digital Transformation Team as of September 2020 incorporates Gov Notify into the following live digital services: Blue Badge applications; School Attendance Manager and AskDTBS (covering ICT, Procurement, Property and Business Support) service for raising requests.
How many emails does this service/ department send monthly? Please see below – all emails sent from the Digital Transformation Team are sent via Gov Notify.

For the month of August, Blue Badge Service sent 3369 emails via Gov Notify, and the AskDTBS Service sent 56. In total, the Digital Transformation Team sent 3,460 Emails in the month of August.

The ‘print and post’ service used for adult social care service user letters are selected from the providers listed on the corporate printing procurement framework. Pollards and Latchams are the two firms who have been used for both printing and posting out. Procurement Portal – Supplying the South West
