2a) How much did you spend on sexual health services for the financial year 2019/20?

Total Sexual Health:

  • £6,504,976.08 (including PH staffing redistribution)
  • £6,286,218.71 (excluding staffing redistribution)

Breakdown

Advice:

  • £237,622.95 (including PH staffing redistribution)
  • £161,500.00 (excluding staffing redistribution)

Contraception:

  • £2,192,529.70 (including PH staffing redistribution)
  • £2,120,665.34 (excluding staffing redistribution)

Sexually Transmitted Infections:

  • £4,074,823.43 (including PH staffing redistribution)
  • £4,004,053.37 (excluding staffing redistribution)

The total should be used rather than the breakdown because the breakdown figures are arbitrary and don’t truly reflect spend in those areas due to the North Devon Healthcare Trust periodic payments. These reflect a percentage of the costs based on historical reasoning rather than actual expenditure in those areas.

2b) How much do you plan to spend on sexual health services in the financial year of 2020/2021?

Total Sexual Health:

  • £6,860,000.00 (including PH staffing redistribution)

Sexually Transmitted Infections:

  • £3,986,000.00 (including PH staffing redistribution)
  • £3,908,000.00 (excluding staffing redistribution)

The total should be used rather than the breakdown because the breakdown figures are arbitrary and don’t truly reflect spend in those areas due to the North Devon Healthcare Trust periodic payments. These reflect a percentage of the costs based on historical reasoning rather than actual expenditure in those areas.

3a) How many targeted services (e.g clinics) did you provide for men that have sex with men in the year 2019/20?

3b) How many targeted services (e.g clinics) will you provide for men that have sex with men in the year 2020/2021?

All our clinics are open access.

However, the three groups mentioned in questions 3-5 are targeted through outreach to:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with appropriate communities, venues and settings (including Public Sex Environments as appropriate) in order to maintain an appropriate and regular supply of safer sex resources, including agreeing a code of conduct with the venue, specifying commitment to promotion of safer sex behaviours
  • Provide condoms accompanied by time-limited behaviour change interventions that reduce risky sexual behaviours and focus on improving sexual health and healthy relationships delivered digitally or face to face
  • Promote and encourage regular sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing in line with national guidance
  • Provide STI testing, including HIV testing, in appropriate community settings (e.g. sex on premises and public sex environments) with rapid referral links to sexual health services
  • Proactively encourage Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and Post Exposure Prophylaxis amongst communities, groups and individuals at higher risk of sexual transmission of HIV
  • Promote Hepatitis A and B vaccination and Hepatitis C screening and treatment in those groups most at risk without reliable evidence of vaccination or previous infection, particularly men who have sex with men and signpost to local services
  • Signpost and refer people (including those living with HIV) to other sources of local and national support and advocacy services (including, but not limited to clinical care, social care advocacy services, mental health services, welfare rights charities, digital support networks and local peer support networks)

The outreach offer didn’t change from 2019/20 to 2020/21
