Local authorities need to identify all children and young people who are in their care, on the edge of care or have left care, who need to make an application under the EU Settlement Scheme. This includes EU, European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss national children, or children who may be able to apply for the Settlement Scheme through a family member.
Please can you send me information for each of the following points?
1. Do you routinely record nationality data for every looked after child and/or care leaver in your local authority area? Yes/ No?

2. Can you provide a nationality breakdown for all looked after children and care leavers in your local authority area as of 01st March 2021?
3. How many looked after children or care leavers in your authority area are EU, European Economic Area (EEA), or Swiss national children as of 01st March 2021?

4. How many looked after children or care leavers in your authority area have been supported to undertake an EU Settlement Scheme application between 01st October 2020- 01st March 2021?

5. How many looked after children or care leavers in your authority area have received a status (including where possible a breakdown of how many have received ‘settled’ and how many have received ‘pre-settled’ status) under the EU Settlement Scheme between 01st October 2020- 01st March 2021?

2 – We do not have the detail as to whether these are Settled or Pre-Settled. The remaining 6 were all submitted before the deadline however are still pending.
