Domestic Abuse Strategy

By virtue of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, each tier one local authority has a duty to appoint a multi-agency Domestic Abuse Local Partnership Board and to prepare and publish a strategy for accommodation-based support in its area.

1 – Please confirm whether you have appointed a Partnership Board and confirm the make-up of the same;

2 – Please confirm whether you have written and published a strategy pursuant to s57 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021; 

Yes

3 – If the answer to question (2) above is yes, please confirm the date it was published and provide a copy of the strategy;

The Strategy was published in January 2022 and is available online at : Support in safe accommodation

4 – If the answer to question (2) above is yes, please provide details of how you are giving effect to the strategy with reference to the statutory guidance on the same;

The Authority is following a programme of work mapped against the strategic framework objectives  including: providing continuity grant funding to organisations already providing services that fall with the remit of Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and exploring opportunities to develop/adapt these further through a test & learn approach;  tendering for new services to meet needs identified in the local needs assessment such as the Trauma responsive therapeutic intervention service that will commence in Apr 2023, and preparing for commissioning of additional services in line with existing commissioning cycles.  All work is carried out in partnership with Local Partnership Board and tier two authorities and in line with section B5 of the Statutory Guidance.
