In the interests of providing advice and assistance, we can confirm that diversion routes are provided on roads of equivalent status as the road to be closed. This is typically determined by class of road. In some cases, where providing a diversion on a road of the same class results in a very long diversion, a road of a lower class but considered to be equivalent in its capacity will be used.

2. Any risk assessments regarding:

  • narrow lanes
  • emergency access
  • congestion
  • road safety.

No formal risk assessments were carried out, so DCC does not hold this information. In the interests of providing advice and assistance, please see this DCC webpage.
