Children and Family Centres

1) How many children used children’s centres, family hubs, and children and family centres in your local authority, in each of the following financial years? If you record both face-to-face and digital reach, please specify the figures for each separately if possible. We’re requesting data from 2011/12 in order to compare against more recent years.

  • a) 2011/121
  • b) 2018/19
  • c) 2019/20
  • d) 2020/21

By ‘use’, we mean received any specified service or participated in at least one class or session, delivered by the centre or hub on site or at an alternative site operated by the centre or hub.

The total for each financial year should only count a child once even if they used centres or hubs on multiple occasions within a single financial year.  By ‘children’ we mean people aged 18 and under.

2) How many of these children in each year were aged five or under?

3) How many parents/carers used children’s centres, family hubs, and children and family centres in your local authority, in each of the specified financial years? If you record both face-to-face and digital reach, please specify the figures for each separately if possible.

The total for each financial year should only count a parent/carer once even if they used centres or hubs on multiple occasions within a single financial year.

4) How many parents/carers used baby and toddler groups (such as Stay and Play, messy play, music and movement groups, story and rhyme groups) in your local authority in the following financial years?

If you record both face-to-face and digital reach, please specify the figures for each separately if possible.

If you don’t know, please explain why.

Please note:

Reach figures are based on parents/carers or children living within the Devon County area who had a minimum of one contact with a Devon County Council Children’s Centre over the period specified.

* Due to limitations of the reporting system, this specific figure was not available. However, we have provided data for the number of children aged 0-2 seen at least once during the specified time periods. This should provide a good estimate to parent/carer attendance and likely exhibit a similar pattern of change over time.

** The system for recording attendance at parenting programmes was not set up until 2016 so reliable figures can only be provided for after this date
