Appropriate Adult Contract

Please could you furnish me with a copy of the contract, including all charges etc. between The Appropriate Adult Service and Devon County Council (Police).

A copy of the contract can be viewed here

We should clarify that the contract is just between Devon County Council and the provider, a national company called ‘The Appropriate Adult Service’, and whilst the police are rightly included in the tender evaluation and contract monitoring they are not formal partners to the contract because they do not contribute financially to the contract.

In relation to charges, we can confirm that we pay £40 an hour for the provision of Appropriate Adults at police stations to accompany vulnerable adults and relevant children when in custody.  We spend around £125,000 a year on the provision of Appropriate Adults for vulnerable adults.
