Some four decades ago, Devon Highways sought permission to build a by-pass in the vicinity of St. John’s Chapel on the B3232. The application was successful.

The highways scheme to build the by-pass was subsequently not required and Devon County Council disposed of the land which had been retained for the proposed scheme in October 2021.
