Adult Social Care Charges

1. A copy of your most recent compliance with the public sector equality duty, regarding the impact of charging adults in need for the non-residential care and support they receive under the Care Act 2014, in accordance with s.149 Equality Act 2010. 

Every year Devon County Council publishes an impact assessment covering all aspects of the local authority’s activities, including adult social care responsibilities under the Care Act. This is part of the annual budget setting process and the published impact assessments can be found on this Devon County Council webpage.

2.The number of adults in need provided with non-residential care and support under the Care Act 2014 by your authority in each financial year or calendar year, if this is the period used for data recording purposes since April 2017. 

From the wording of the questions, we have interpreted that only complete periods of data recording are required (calendar or financial year) therefore the information provided is from the full financial years 2017/18 to 2020/21. 

3. The number of adults in need your authority has charged for their non-residential care and support in each financial year or calendar year, if this is the period used for data recording purposes since April 2017.

 4. Gross income your authority has received from non-residential care charges under the Care Act 2014 for each financial year or calendar year, if this is the period used for data recording purposes since April 2017. 

5. The administrative and other costs incurred by your authority in collecting non-residential care and support charges under the Care Act 2014 for each financial year or calendar year, if this is the period used for data recording purposes since April 2017. 

The figures given exclude centralised overhead costs such as accommodation; IT; HR etc.

6. The number of adults in need who have declined receiving services for non-residential care and support due to the level of charge imposed by your authority in each financial year or calendar year, if this is the period used for data recording purposes since April 2017. 

When an offer of support is declined, we do not record or monitor the nature of the service declined or the specific reason(s) for this outcome, therefore, the following figures represents every type of support service and circumstance without distinction.

7. The number of adults in need your authority has exercised its discretion not to charge for non-residential care and support in each financial year or calendar year, if this is the period used for data recording purposes since April 2017.
