Councillors do not receive wages, but an allowance. This information is already publicly available in the outturn reports on the Devon County Council website. The information for the financial year 2024/25 will be published in about May / June to the Cabinet meeting.
2. Please can you confirm the process of how these wages are calculated and the process for deciding the level of wages?
Councillors do not receive wages, but an allowance. The scheme is outlined in the Council’s Constitution. The Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) Regulations 1991, outline that an Independent Panel should review Member Allowances and recommend a scheme to the Council. They report every February to the Procedures Committee, who review their findings, but ultimately it is a decision for the Council who make a decision at the budget meeting in February each year.
