Details of the Council’s IT budget for 2017 to 2019 are outlined below;
• 2016-17 = £7,195,000
• 2017-18 = £7,657,000
• 2018-19 = £9,405,000

2. Storage:

a. What storage vendor(s) and models do you currently use?

275TB Useable

2012/ 2011 respectively

September 2018

In the majority of cases we have an extended 12 month rolling warranty when a contract ends.

Options are currently being considered which may lead to a procurement exercise.

3. Server/Compute:

a. What server vendor(s) and models do you currently use?
HPE & IBM
HP Proliant DL360 G5/G6/G7/Gen8/Gen9, HP Proliant DL380 G4p/Gen8, HP BL460c G5/G6/G7/Gen8/Gen10, IBM P Series, RS6000, Power710/730

b. What were the installation dates of the above server vendor(s)? (Month/Year)
There have been many install dates over the previous seven years
c. When is your planned (or estimated) server refresh date? (Month/Year)
A partial refresh is planned for September 2018

d. What is your estimated budget for the server refresh?
Options are currently being considered which may lead to a procurement exercise. Any disclosure of information which causes prejudice to this procurement exercise will prejudice the commercial interests of the council. This information is therefore exempt from disclosure pursuant to s.43 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Whilst Devon County Council recognises that there is a public interest in openness and transparency around the spending of Council funds, we consider that there is a stronger public interest in ensuring that DCC does not release information that might prejudice future procurement activities. Foer this reason we feel this information is exempt from disclosure at this time.

Windows 2008R2, Windows 2012R”, Windows 2016R2, AIX 6.1 & 7.1, SuSe leap, openSUSE, SLES

4. Network & Security:

a. What network vendor(s) and models do you currently use?
Avaya : VSP9000’s, 4800’s and 3500’s. a handful of Cisco 2960X’s.

b. What are the quantities of the Edge, Core and MP used in your network?
Approximately 20 x 3500’s, 6 4550’s, 220 4800’s and 2 x VSP 9000’s.

c. What network architecture is currently used?
The two VSP’s form the core via an IST. County Hall has around 16 stacks connecting the remote wiring positions back to the core. The Wan sites connect back to the core, via a managed WAN service

d. What security solutions are being utilised?
Patching \ firmware revisions in line with Public Service Network guidelines.

e. What were the installation dates of the above network vendor(s)? (Month/Year)
We do not hold this information on a per switch basis because there are so many that have been installed over a period of time

f. then is your planned (or estimated) Network refresh date? (Month/Year)?
Approximately 3 – 5 years.

g. What is your estimated budget for the Network refresh?
We do not have an estimated budget at the moment.

h. When did you install your current Wi-Fi environment?
The roll-out started earlier this calendar year and is still being rolled out.

5. End User Devices:
a. How many desktops/laptops are deployed by the Council?
4400 laptops/ tablets

b. How many mobile devices [Phones & tablets etc] are deployed by the council?
Circa 3,300 mobile phones and smartphones

c. What were the installation dates of the above desktop/laptops?
Over the last 18 months the project to replace the laptops is still on-going

d. When is your planned (or estimated) desktop/laptop refresh date? (Month/Year)
Over the last 18 months, Council laptops have been refreshed. Any future refreshes will be dependent on future need.

6. Backup, DR and BC:

Devon County Council does not have a specific cloud strategy. However, our ICT Roadmap makes reference to cloud computing and is intended to be published on the Council’s website in the coming weeks.

Any Corporate software used across multiple areas of Devon County Council are purchased and managed by the ICT Commissioning Team

Software licences purchased from Software Box totalled approximately c.£900k, Microsoft licences c£800k.

At the time of your request, 4,798.

Microsoft, Oracle and Egress
18. What are the contractual renewal dates for those three vendors?
1st September 2018 (Microsoft), 1st April 2019 (Egress) and multiple Oracle contracts renewed during the year

Audited annually by Oracle for user licenses and currently in SAM Engagement by Microsoft.

20. Do you currently measure software usage versus the number of licenses purchased?
Yes, as part of a regular reconciliation process

21. Do you use a software asset management and/or software inventory tool? If so which one(s)?
Yes, SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)

22. Are you actively moving any applications/infrastructure into a cloud environment? If so who is responsible for this?
Devon County Council uses NCSC domain checker. This is monitored by the Council’s IT delivery partner SCOMIS.
