The only way this information could be obtained would be by way of an individual review of every single file of every child which was taken into care in the 2016 calendar year. Statistics are not recorded by way of calendar years, but we can confirm that, in the financial year ending 31st March 2016, 385 children were taken into care.
Using an approximate review time of 15 minutes per file, this would therefore take 96.25 hours to review an entire year’s files. This is in excess of the appropriate time limit and, pursuant to s.12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we are therefore not obliged to disclose this information.
