Commemorative plaque relating to Taw bridge

In relation to the commemorative plaque relating to Taw bridge and situated near the southern end of that bridge I seek each and every item of record in whatever form held, in whichever department of Devon County Council,(hereinafter called “the council”) relating to:-

1. the cost of making and affixing the plaque to the commemoration stone; the cost of work carried out recently in excising the details of Councillor Brian Greenslade therefrom.

No records can be found.  The costs for the removal of the name have not been received yet

2. who commissioned the plaque and its placement in situ, and who decided upon the wording

3. who ordered the work of excision and what was the authority relied upon in doing so, and whether any elected members were consulted, and if so which

The Chief Officer for Highways Infrastructure Development and Waste, Meg Booth instructed the name to be removed from the plaque following a discussion with Councillor John Hart about the complaints he had received from Councillor Frank Beiderman.

4. the ownership of the plaque at the time of excision as previously mentioned

5. if the owner at such time was other than the council details of any prior permission sought and obtained from that owner

6. if the council owned the plaque at this time which officer/department was responsible for it and details of any consultation prior to the excision

I refer to the answers to 3, 4 and 5 above.

7. “exploring longer term options to commemorate the opening of the bridge”

The longer term solution has yet to be identified.

Please supply copies of all press releases issued by the council in relation to Brian Greenslade since his recent conviction at Exeter Crown Court and details of who composed and authorised each of them.

No press releases have been issued by the County Council since the conviction of Brian Greenslade therefore this information is not held.
