Becoming a potential host for the Homes for Ukraine scheme

Team Devon has sent an email to people in Devon who registered their interest in becoming potential hosts for the Homes for Ukraine scheme. It provides further details on how the process works and a request for additional information. The email was sent on Thursday 23 June 2022 using the GovDelivery Communications Cloud on behalf of Devon County Council.

Building a pool of new hosts

The Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme has seen a number of people sponsoring visas for both individuals and families and these people are now arriving in Devon. There will be cases where these initial sponsorships are unable to continue due to a range of factors, such as a change in circumstances or the location of the host’s property.

When this happens, the process is to re-match our Ukrainian guests to another host from our Expression of Interest list. It is important that we build up a pool of potential new hosts in Devon, so we can make any transfer to a new host as quick and as seamless as possible.

Checks on sponsor households

The policy set out by the government is that all potential hosts undertake a series of checks before any guests are moved to their property. These include Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks along with property checks.

More details on the required checks can be found on this website.
