Update on supply costs for practitioners already undertaking the Professional Development Programme training
As part of undertaking the Professional Development Programme (PDP3), support with backfill costs are available to settings to help practitioners complete the training. Supply costs equate to 10 days of training @ £80 per day to a maximum of £800. (A day is calculated as 6 hours per day.)
When calculating the supply costs, we use information provided to the local authority by the Department for Education.
Payment of the supply costs will be made direct into the bank account held by the Early Years and Childcare Service and is the one which the Early Years Entitlement Funding is paid into for a practitioner’s setting. The payment of the supply costs will be marked up as PDP3 for ease of identification.
- Cohort 1 – February – October 2023 – up to 10 days of supply costs paid
- Cohort 2 – September 2023 – June 2024 – up to 5 days of supply paid January 2024 with the balance payable by the end of May 2024
- Cohort 3 – January-September 2024 – up to 5 days of supply payable by the end of May 2024
- Cohort 4 – April – December 2024 – as practitioners have only recently started on this programme, payments will be processed by the end of August.
Examples of supply cost payment:
- A practitioner is part of Cohort 2. The course runs from 2023 to June 2024. In January 2024 the ‘progress’ report indicated that they had completed 50% of their training and supply costs were paid equating to 5 days. On the 1st May 2024, a further ‘progress’ report was received indicating they had completed 100% of the course. The practitioner will receive the balance of 5 days supply cost by the end of May 2024. In total they have been paid 10 days supply costs.
- A practitioner is part of the Cohort 3. The course runs January – September 2024. A ‘progress’ report received on the 1st May 2024, indicates they have completed 20% of the course. They will receive supply for 2 days of training at the end of May 2024.
