Safeguarding special: Safer recruitment information session – coming soon!

Devon Early Years and Childcare Service are developing an information session focusing on the principles and stages of safer recruitment, taking into account the information in the updated Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (which is coming into effect from 1st September 2025), and the guidance document keeping children safe in education.

This pre-recorded information session will be suitable for all group-based providers (who are not managed by schools) and childminders who are looking to recruit staff, assistants, students/apprentices and volunteers; and is aimed at those who have undertaken formal safer recruitment training and who need to refresh their knowledge, or other individuals who will be on the interview panel.

Devon Early Years and Childcare Service would advise as best practice that at least one person who is on the interview panel has undertaken formal safer recruitment training – this may be through the NSPCC: Safer recruitment training: online and in-person | NSPCC Learning, Virtual College: Safer Recruitment Training Online Course | Virtual College or through an alternative provider.
