Admission to primary school 2025 for children born between 01/09/2020 and 31/08/2021

Dear Pre-School / Early Years Provider / Childminder,

You will be aware that children born between 01/09/2020 and 31/08/2021 are entitled to start full time Primary Education in September 2025.

The online application facility opened on the 15th November and closes at midnight on 15th January 2025.

It is important that parents apply before the closing date, even if they are intending to defer their child’s admission until later in the academic year, they must secure a place before that decision need be made.

In the past we have included posters/flyers for you to display in your settings, however, due to the current situation we are no longer producing physical copies of posters, as we are shifting to promote our services online.

The step-by-step guide is now available for download from the school admission webpages.

We know that most families will apply using the online facility at www.devon.gov.uk/admissionsonline and in fact we have received 4000 applications since we opened for online applications.

We are anxious that no application is delayed beyond the closing date as schools have limits placed upon them and we must offer places up to the determined number in the first round – no places can be held in reserve for late applicants. Each year there are parents who are disappointed that places at local schools are not available because they did not apply on time.

I know you will do your best to support your children’s progression to statutory education and to this end would ask that you promote the application facility with families within your settings.
