Garfield Weston Foundation

The Garfield Weston Foundation is one of the largest UK grant-making foundations, supporting charities across the UK with donations totalling around £100m each year.

Most grants from the foundation are in the range of £10,000 to £50,000 but smaller and larger grants can be awarded, including major grants of over £100,000. The grants can be for your organisation’s running costs, for a specific activity or for capital projects.

The foundation provides grants to charities that are making a positive difference through the following themes:

  • Arts – including theatre companies, orchestras and bands, choirs, dance groups, literature and visual arts
    Community – including village halls, community transport, volunteer groups, foodbanks
  • Education – including schools and PTAs
  • Environment – including rewilding projects, marine conservation, nature reserves
  • Faith – churches
  • Health – charities supporting mental and physical health and people with sensory disabilities
  • Museums and heritage – including local heritage centres and museums
  • Welfare – including organisations supporting people facing challenging circumstances eg. homelessness, bereavement, carers, ex-offenders, sexual abuse
  • Youth – including young carers, scouts, sports, youth clubs

Schroder Charity Trust

The Schroder Charity Trust provides grants for registered charities that help children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their potential and that improve the wellbeing and life outcomes for vulnerable people.

Grants can be used for:

Enabling children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to thrive and achieve their potential in education and employment:

  • early years support for vulnerable children
  • reading and literacy skills
  • financial literacy
  • vocational careers and apprenticeships for young people
  • improving employment outcomes for young offenders
  • tutoring to improve school attainment

Strengthening communities through services and opportunities that enhance the wellbeing and life outcomes of vulnerable and disadvantaged people:

  • helping people out of financial hardship
  • support for children in the care system
  • reducing social isolation for older people
  • building life skills and resilience through youth work
  • supporting the homeless into sustainable housing
