The new inspection framework – Ofsted briefing sessions
The new Ofsted inspection framework will be implemented in November 2025, following a comprehensive consultation process. This updated approach aims to improve transparency and fairness in educational assessments, introducing detailed report cards and a revised evaluation system.
To support early years and childcare providers in preparing for these changes, Ofsted Senior HMI will be delivering two live briefing sessions in November. These sessions will provide direct insight into the framework and offer an opportunity for providers to ask questions and clarify expectations.
Key features of the new framework include:
- Five-point grading scale: Replacing the previous single-word judgments (Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, Inadequate), the new scale offers a more nuanced view of school performance, considering individual context and strengths
- Focus on quality and wellbeing: Inspections will shift away from heavy reliance on attainment data and compliance, instead prioritizing teaching quality, staff wellbeing, and pupil support
- Detailed report cards: These will provide a comprehensive overview of a school’s performance, offering clearer insights for educators, parents, and stakeholders
Briefing session dates:
- Friday 14th November 2025 – 10:30–11:30am – Join the meeting now
- Monday 17th November 2025 – 6:30–7:30pm – Join the meeting now
We encourage all Devon early years and childcare providers to attend and engage with these important updates.
