Early Years talk boost programme- Early Years South West Stronger Partnership Hub
An opportunity has arisen for settings to receive the Early Talk Boost programme.
What is Early Talk Boost?
Early Talk Boost is a targeted programme designed for 3 to 4-year-old children struggling with communication and language. It includes an intervention manual, set of eight story books, toolkit of resources and a tracker. Children who are selected to take part in the nine-week intervention will attend three sessions per week during circle/story time, each lasting 15-20 minutes delivered by an early years practitioner.
What does Early Talk Boost cover?
- Attention and listening as a foundation skill for speaking and listening
- Developing vocabulary (as research shows that children with weaker vocabularies are at risk of difficulties with reading)
- Building sentences – putting words together is a vital skill for having conversation and telling stories
How is Early Talk Boost delivered?
- Settings identify at least two practitioners to receive 5 hours of live, online training. Settings can choose whether to attend the training at the beginning of the summer or autumn term. Twilight sessions will be available
- Early Years practitioners select 6-8 children to take part in Early Talk Boost by using the Early Talk Boost Tracker
- Early Years practitioners run a workshop with parents/carers and deliver the Early Talk Boost programme with the children
