Welcome to our second update on the ongoing redesign of Devon’s Education and Learning Services, specifically focusing on Early Years and Childcare. We’re committed to keeping you informed and supported throughout this transition.

From spring 2026, Foundation Years will provide new written resources, videos and peer-to-peer sessions for schools, facilitated by local authorities. This is to help reception teachers carry out the EYFSP assessment with confidence and consistency.

The UK Government has confirmed that under the newly enacted Martyn’s Law (The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025), all early years settings will be classified under the Standard Tier, regardless of their capacity.
