Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:

Approval to publish an updated version of the Education Section 106 Infrastructure Approach dated February 2020.

Summary of Reason(s) for Decision Taken:

Publishing an updated document will ensure that the approach

to securing developer contributions for education provision is informed by Department for Education guidance.

An up to date approach will assist in securing an appropriate level of developer contributions to mitigate development impacts and ensure that Devon County Council’s statutory responsibilities regarding ensuring sufficient pupil places can be fulfilled.

Summary of Alternatives or Options considered and rejected:

An alternative option would be to continue using the existing approach, however this is now out of date in a number of areas, notably the cost of provision. This would reduce the authority’s ability to secure adequate funding towards education infrastructure and meet its responsibilities around pupil place planning.
