Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:

Operational changes required at Household Waste Recycling Centres to comply with l/Environment Agency requirements on accepting Waste Upholstered Domestic Seating (WUDS) under the POPS Regulations

Decision Taken:

After consulting with the Director of Finance and Public Value and the Cabinet Member for Public Health, Communities and Equality, the operational changes required at HWRCs have been approved.

Summary of Alternatives or Options considered and rejected:

As a Waste Disposal Authority, the County Council has to comply with waste legislation and Environment Agency requirements. Consequently, there is no option but to comply and try to balance the operational changes required, financial costs, recycling performance  and public satisfaction levels with the service to enable WUDS to be managed in accordance with EA requirements.
