Language Line for telephone interpreting

We do not  have a contract for other translation/interpreting but local agency Multilingua are used regularly

5.            Are you able to provide approximate fee / interpreting session for:

a.       In-person/face to face interpreting

b.       Telephone interpreting

c.       Video interpreting

We do not hold the data for Language Line or Multilingua who do the telephone and video interpretating in any format.  Therefore to obtain this information we would need to collate a report of every single payment and work out how long the appointment was for and how many hours used.   This would take longer than the appropriate time limit of 18 hours and therefore, pursuant to section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we are not obliged to provide this information.

However, we can confirm that the face to face BSL interpretation is charged between £100 and £130 per hour

6.            If you outsource the provision of interpreting services to an external provider, could you please confirm:

a)    Whether the provider was contracted via a national framework? If so, which one?

b)    When does the current contract expire?

c)    Is there is an exclusivity clause, which would prevent the trust from piloting new cost saving interpreting services during the duration of your contract with your existing provider?

  • * C) As a Framework there is no exclusivity clause

Services pay for their interpreting/translations

8.            Where do you advertise your tenders?  If you do not do a full tender / which frameworks would you use?

All tenders are advertised via Suppling the South West Portal – Supplying the South West Portal and where required under PCR 2015 the Find a Tender Site.

The Authority has access to many Central and regional Government Frameworks which can be used where beneficial and do not restrict themselves to specific Frameworks.

Start date = 1st August 2023

End date = 31st July 2025

There is not a specific contract manager each service manages their own call offs
