Traffic Survey for Exmouth

1 If there has there been a traffic survey for Exmouth, when was this undertaken and what is the resulting data?

Numerous traffic counts have been carried out at various locations in Exmouth. These include permanent Automatic Traffic Count (ATC) sites which collect data for every hour of the year as well as temporary daily surveys at junctions. This map shows the location of all these surveys.

2 Is there an assessment of changes to traffic flow within the town, that would result from completion of the Dinan Way extension and the additional housing recently and currently being built?

As part of the bid for Dinan Way funding, we updated the Exmouth traffic model to take into account all of the proposed development in the town. We developed a scenario with Dinan Way extension included which gave us a prediction of how traffic flows in the town would change as a result of road being built. This report provides further information on this modelling exercise.

Redactions have been made in the report.  This is to remove personal information which is exempt from disclosure under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (Personal Data). Devon County Council can confirm the requested information is held; however, the Council cannot disclose personal information if releasing it would contravene any of the provisions in the Data Protection Act 2018. In this instance release of this information would contravene the first data protection principle and therefore the information is withheld.

3 Is there a traffic management plan to ensure that rat runs are not created through residential areas as a result of changes to traffic flow.

The attached modelling report shows that traffic flows on Dinan Way would increase as a result of the extension being built but flows on parallel roads would decrease. The scheme would remove traffic from rat running routes. Monitoring of the scheme post implementation will be carried out to review the changes to traffic flows as a result of the Dinan Way extension scheme.
