Please can you provide a list of all safeguarding incidents in hotels for asylum seekers within your locality from April 1st 2020 to date? These services are commissioned by the Home Office but safeguarding incidents are made known to the local authority.
Please provide a breakdown of the incidents by:
a) type of incident (e.g. sexual assault on a child, suicide of asylum seeker)
b) the gender of the victim/ person affected
c) the month and year
d) the outcome (i.e. s47 investigation or any criminal investigation known to the local authority)
e) the name of the provider where known
Data is based on those individuals with a Primary Support Reason (PSR) of ‘Social Support / Asylum seeker support’ and whose main address was listed as a hotel at the time the initial
concern was raised. We are unable to include asylum seekers recorded with a different PSR as this would require extensive manual checks. Counts relate to the number of concerns raised not the number of individuals and therefore it is possible that some individuals will be counted more than once.
As no central record is maintained, to obtain this information would require a manual review of all of our records. This would take longer than the appropriate time limit of 18 hours and therefore, pursuant to section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 200, we are not obliged to provide this information.
