Road Traffic Regulation Orders – Turnpike, Sampford Peverel

Can you please provide details of the dates and nature of road traffic regulation notices (road closures and traffic lights) that have been in force on Turnpike, Sampford Peverell (Battens Cross to Sampford Peverell Bridge) between September 2023 and January 2024 inclusive.
I am asking because the Devon County interactive roadmap has not included these when they happen.

This location is Unique Street Reference Number (USRN) 25301203. There has been Street Works* activity recorded on this USRN between the identified dates above that have been undertaken by both utility companies and a development management company. There have been two planned road closures connected to the development works, three deployments of multi-way portable traffic signals (PTS) connected with both utility and development works, two under no or some carriageway incursion (two way traffic being maintained) by utility companies and one under ‘give and take’ by a utility company.

*The Street Works Register is the system used by Traffic Authorities and works promoters which is provided by the Department of Transport, it is called Street Manager. It’s not for public use, it’s only for use by works promoters to raise permit applications and by Traffic Authorities who process those applications. The One Network online system is public facing and provides general information about street works however, users must create an account in order to access any information.

Devon County Council will be told about the works and for these, there may be permission granted to use the PTS. However, the PTS may not be required 24/7 for the life of the works, they may be required at various stages during the life of the developers build. When they chose to use them (times or days) during the works is a matter for them. They can have a permission across several months but may only implement use at necessary stages for the works and not all of the time.

We should clarify, therefore, that we do not hold the dates when the road closures will have taken place.   The finalised agreement between Devon County Council and the development management company does not stipulate the dates when the road closures are to take place.  When the PTS can be used will be a decision for the contractor in line with the progress of the works.
