Raleigh Road, Exeter

Someone from Devon Highways crossed out the road markings for the doctor’s bay at the top of Raleigh Road, Exeter. They crossed out the word Doctor and the bay markings between the doctor’s bay and the residents bays beyond. This gave the impression the doctor’s bay had been decommissioned but turns out it hadn’t been. Can you tell me when the work was authorised, when it was carried out and send any photo that the council took of the completed work. Can you also confirm that both the word Doctor and the bay marking were erased.

We can confirm that the work was not authorised. The markings were sprayed out in error in July 2025. When that error was identified, an instruction to remove the sprayed marks was issued on 17 July, and these have now been removed leaving the Doctors bay to remain in situ.

For information, we have recently consulted on the proposal to remove the bay and convert the space to residents parking and further details on this proposal can be found on our website  at Local Waiting Restriction Programme
