Please provide the following information for the financial years 2015 to 2021 (beginning 01 April 2015 ending 31 March 2022) broken down by year i.e. 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022:
The number of people under the age of 18 referred to children’s services in your area for ‘radicalisation concerns’?
Of these, how many were referred by the local authority as a as a First Responder to the National Referral Mechanism as potential victims of human trafficking and/or modern slavery?
Of these, how many were cautioned or arrested for terrorism related offences?
In response to all of the questions:-
We are unable to distinguish from the central record of referrals whether there is a radicalisation concern.
This will therefore require a manual review of all referrals made to children’s services which is approximately 8,000 referrals per year. Allowing for 5 minutes per referral, this would, for the 8 years requested and therefore 64,000 referrals, this would therefore total in excess of 5,000 hours. This is in excess of the appropriate time limit and therefore, pursuant to section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 we are not obliged to provide this information.
In relation to the final question, we should also clarify that we will not hold information in relation to cautions and arrests as this will be police information. We therefore recommend that you approach the police for this information.
