Peer Training in Schools

I write in my capacity as Vice Chair for Devon & Somerset Law Society’s Mediation Panel and should be grateful if you would kindly assist with the following:

Under the Freedom of Information Act, please can you confirm the following:

1. Do you currently hold funds to provide peer mediation training for schools within your local authority area? For clarification peer mediation is defined as conflict resolution for young people by young people.

No.

2. If the answer to question 1 is no, do schools instead make use of their own budget to fund peer mediation training?

No.

3. Does your local authority currently engage any external providers to provide peer mediation training? Please provide details of any contract timeline, including the ending of any contract and any available contract extensions. Alternatively, is any tender or expressions of interest open or forthcoming within the next six months?

No.

4. If the answer to question 3 is no, would a decision to engage external providers be made by individual schools subject to their own budgetary constraints?

No.
