This is a Freedom of Information request relating to “managed moves” of pupils from and to mainstream schools in the local authority.
1. Please provide data on the number of pupils in schools in the local authority area who have been the subject of at least one managed in the academic year 2024-25, or the most recent year that you have full data for (please indicate the year/s). Please provide
the data for
a) primary pupils
b) secondary pupils
I am only seeking data where a managed move was from and to a mainstream school.
2. Please provide the number of pupils who have been the subject of more than one managed move in the relevant year, broken down by
a) primary pupils
b) secondary pupils
3. Please provide any information you hold on the initial reasons for “managed moves” in the year you are providing data for (this can be a summary)
4. Please provide the number and/or proportion of managed moves that were “successful” ie the pupil was admitted on to the roll of the receiving school
5. Please provide the number and/or proportion of managed moves that were “unsuccessful” ie the pupil was not admitted on to the roll of the receiving school
6. In the case of “unsuccessful” managed moves, please provide details of
a) number/proportion of pupils that returned to previous school
b) an indication of other destinations for pupils eg homeschooled, one-to-one tuition, pupil referral unit, private school etc, and numbers/proportions if possible
7. please provide any information you hold on the reasons why some managed moves were unsuccessful (this can be a summary).
Devon County Council does not hold this information. This data has not been collected for several years as the schools no longer need to report these moves.
Managed moves are now known as off-site directions, which if they become permanent are then called managed moves.
