1.For the year 2019, please state how many looked after children were recorded as having gone missing from their agreed placement at some point for more than 24 hours during the year.
55 unique children who went “Missing” from their placement for more than 24 hours (in a single missing episode) between 01/01/2019 – 31/12/2019. This figure excludes those who were absent without permission but their whereabouts were known.
2. For each individual child who went missing please state their (i) age, (ii) sex, (iii) nationality and (iv) the duration in days for EACH occasion that they went missing.
Details requested are provided in the linked to spreadsheet – Children missing from placements
Gaps in the citizenship column are explained by the fact that recording nationality is not a statutory requirement so the information is not always held.
3. For each child referred to in Q2 please state if they are still now recorded as missing and the date when they went missing
We hold the information for questions 3 and 4 but as disclosure may identify individuals and therefore breach their rights under the Data Protection Act 2018 we consider the information is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 40(2) Personal Data.
4. As of the date of this e-mail how many children that are recorded as being looked after, whether they are missing or not, have been recorded as having a category of need as ‘socially unacceptable behaviour’? For each case please provide a one or two sentence summary of what this behaviour was.
Please see the response to Question 3.
